They don't need another person. They need another hit. Have
you ever looked at someone's life and thought, they have a stable relationship,
a beautiful family, a great career? So
why would they risk all of it? Because
they aren't chasing another person. They're chasing a feeling. The chase, the
flirting, the secrecy, the uncertainty. Here's the psychology. Dopamine isn't a
chemical of happiness. It's the chemical of anticipation. Your brain releases
it, not because you have something, but because you might get something. That's
why the fantasy can become more addictive than the reality. The next text, the
secret conversation, the thrill of almost getting caught, the brain begins
craving the anticipation more than the person. Over time, peace can feel flat,
not because love is boring, but because the brain has been conditioned to
expect intensity. That's why someone can have everything and still risk losing
it all. The affair, the constant
flirting, different behaviors, same reward.
They were never chasing the person.
They were chasing the feeling. And until they learn the difference,
they'll keep sacrificing peace for another hit. Until they fix what's broken
inside of them, they will keep bleeding on everyone they touch.
